 2017 Preview 


       Morgan Academy completed the 2016 season with a 5-6 record.

       The Senators have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2011 season and would love to end that streak this year.

       Since 2010, Morgan Academy has gone a combined 31-43. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class AAA over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Morgan Academy has gone a combined 209-94. Their 69.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class AAA and 2nd in the AISA.

       The Senators are led by head coach Josh Thacker who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 5-6 record in his first season at Morgan Academy. The Senators saw improvement from a 4-6 record the season before coach Thacker arrived. The Senators have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Thacker.

       Coach Thacker's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 23-22 (51.1%). Over the course of his career, Coach Thacker's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times .

       The Morgan Academy Senators will play in Class AAA region two during the 2017 season.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Senators if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region two this season.

       The Senators open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Marengo Academy on Saturday, August 26 at Senator Field. Last year the Marengo Academy Longhorns finished with an overall record of 11-1 and in first place in Class A region two. The Longhorns won the Class A State Championship last season when they defeated Chambers Academy by a score of 34-33 in Troy.

       Morgan Academy and Marengo Academy have met a total of 30 times on the football field. The Senators have a 17-13-0 record against the Longhorns. They last met in 2016 with Marengo Academy winning by a score of 42-6.
